Last Sunday was our first anniversary. It’s hard to believe that it has already been one year since our wedding. It is so bittersweet; I would love to be able to go back and re-live our wedding day (it was SUCH a blur) yet I love being married to Jay.
For an anniversary gift, I made a reservation at the County Clare Inn, in Milwaukee and took him to dinner. Jay has been feeling a little “neglected” the last few months - I went from being super busy at work with planning a Leadership Conference, to working on our 3 year plans to my dad getting sick. It was so nice to be able to spend good, quality time together, away from the day-to-day drama of our normal lives.
Jay did good with my gift! He asked my mom to track down our wedding vows (I wouldn’t expect him to remember them, and let’s be honest, I couldn’t recite them now either!) and he put them into a word document with a picture of the two of us. He printed it and framed it. It made me melt. It is probably the BEST and SWEETEST gift he has ever given me.
*We will be overlaying the existing picture with one from our wedding - he couldn’t find the cd’s with our wedding pictures
According to the anniverary table, paper is the first anniversary gift and we both did stick to that. I used my craftiness to make him a card telling him what his gift was and his was, well, truly paper!
*Definitely my best work ever, but I put it together at 11pm on the night before our anniversary.
It could get interesting though as the years go on…I mean really, what can I come up with that involves fruit for our 4th anniversary?
